<Program_Change_Info>Similars can now scan the macOS Photos library directly: no export, Photos' own names, each copy of a photo imported more than once labeled with its import, favorites and edits marked, JPEG + RAW pairs kept together, and removal to Photos' Recently Deleted. A Photos filter and two new keep rules (Keep Favorite, Keep First Import) sort the library out; the preview switches between a photo's original, edit and RAW. Keep Newest and Keep Oldest now go by the date the photo was taken. Folder scans skip photo libraries by default.</Program_Change_Info>

<Char_Desc_250>DuoBolt finds exact duplicate files with BLAKE3 hashing, groups look-alike photos with an engine that names every measure it used, and on a Mac reads the Photos library directly. Nothing is removed without a review screen. Free to use.</Char_Desc_250>
<Char_Desc_450>DuoBolt finds two things: files that are byte-for-byte identical, proven by a full BLAKE3 hash, and photos that merely look alike — bursts, exports and re-saves — grouped by perceptual hashing and ranked by AI that runs on your machine. On a Mac it reads the Photos library directly. No upload, no account. Every removal passes a review screen first, and Operations History can restore what was removed from a surviving copy. Free to use, with paid tiers that lift the limits. macOS and Windows.</Char_Desc_450>
<Char_Desc_2000>DuoBolt finds duplicate files and look-alike photos, and keeps the two questions separate because they are not the same question.

Exact duplicates are decided by content: files are partitioned by size, filtered by a head-and-tail prehash, and confirmed by a full-content BLAKE3 hash. Names, dates and folders play no part in it. Most of a disk is eliminated before a single byte is read, which is where the speed comes from.

Similar photos are a judgement, so DuoBolt shows its reasoning. Images are matched by a 64-bit perceptual hash with an adjustable threshold, grouped so that every pair inside a group is within it, and labelled as Variants (one shot stored more than once) or Look-alikes (different frames that resemble each other). AI Curation then ranks a group and names every measure it used — sharpness, exposure, resolution, format fidelity, and where faces are found, eyes open and smile — marking the frames that are copies while leaving genuinely distinct shots alone. Every model ships inside the app and runs on the device: nothing is uploaded, no account is required, and it works with no network connection.

Nothing is removed by scanning. Marked files pass a Review Selection screen that counts the batch and warns where a file would be left with no surviving copy, and then leave through one of four operations: move to Trash, delete permanently, move to an archive folder with the original directory structure preserved, or copy elsewhere. Scan History records every scan with the setup it used and can repeat it exactly. Operations History records everything that was moved and can restore it, rebuilding from a kept copy verified by content hash. Protected folders make files unselectable entirely.

On macOS, DuoBolt detects APFS clones — files that share storage at the filesystem level — and reports what your disk will actually free rather than what arithmetic on file sizes suggests. It also reads the Photos library directly, with no export: photos appear under the names Photos uses, each copy of a photo imported more than once says which import it came from, favorites, edits and JPEG + RAW pairs are marked, and removal goes to Photos' Recently Deleted.

DuoBolt is free to use, with complete scans and complete results; the free tier caps only how much a single removal operation moves, and how many similar-photo groups a scan shows. Standard removes the operation cap. Pro adds every similar-photo group and AI Curation across all of them. Both are one-time purchases covering two machines, not subscriptions. Every download starts with a 7-day Pro trial, and when it ends the app keeps working free.

Desktop app for macOS 11+ (Universal) and Windows 10/11, with native builds for x64 and ARM64.</Char_Desc_2000>
